Minimalize vs. Minimize

By Jaxson

  • Minimalize

Minimisation is a type of deception involving denial coupled with rationalisation in situations where complete denial is implausible. It is the opposite of exaggeration. Minimization—downplaying the significance of an event or emotion—is a common strategy in dealing with feelings of guilt. Words associated with minimisation include:

  • Minimalize (verb)

    To reduce to a minimum.

  • Minimize (verb)

To make (something) as small or as insignificant as possible.

  • Minimize (verb)

To remove (a window) from the main display area, collapsing it to an icon or caption.

“I didn’t close anything, but I minimized all the windows so I could see the desktop.”

  • Minimize (verb)

    To treat (someone) slightingly.
